So, the so-called Big Three did not get their handout approved by the US government due to there being no arrangement for the workers to accept lower pay.
I have no idea why the workers should be punished, they are not the ones who screwed up by taking out too much of the funds that represent the income for selling the cars, and should be held as working capital.
Neither are they the ones who made the executive decision to continue to make old style cars while the competition makes hybrids.
Neither are they the ones who made the executive decision to scrap and crush the electric cars that had been made way back when, maybe ten years ago.
If GM had kept marketing the electric cars, then they would be well positioned to sell them right now, years ahead of the competition. But the problem with electric cars is that they are too simple, and require too little maintenance compared to gasoline engined cars, and the dealerships would not be able to invent things that were supposed to need replacing, in order to pad their profits.
GM and the others are in business to make profits so the executives can award themselves obscene bonuses. Period. They are not interested in the environment except when forced to be. They are not interested in honoring warranties, unless somehow they are forced to. They are not interested in doing safety recalls, unless they are forced to.
What goes around, comes around - and it is the turn of the executive idiots to be treated as they act - like fools who don't know what they are doing.
The way I see it, the economy is fouled up now, so we might as well make it stronger for the future by letting them fade away, and make room for other more insightful and better run companies.
