US Technology Now A World Standard
The US, by the changes they have made in the past while, like, say, 20 or 30 years, have given other countries the technology to produce goods of a similar quality to US or European made goods.
The Market Shift
In so doing, they have caused a market shift. The manufacturer now becoming China, and the consumer being the US.
Unfortunately, the consumer can only purchase goods if the economy has the funds to allow those purchases.
US Declining As A Consumer
As there are now fewer jobs, and no sign of expansion (expansion actually being difficult with no energy sources to supply the means for that same expansion.) in the US, in fact, it seems that my predictions of contraction continue to be valid, this means that the markets for the China made goods is now failing.
US Standard Of Living Will Continue To Decline
On the bright side for China, a money gets tighter in the US, more consumers will be forced away from domestically produced goods, assuming they are available, and onto the imported Chinese goods, although this might cause more pressure to fail upon any US companies still operating.
China Market Is Global
It might be that this trend will sustain China for a while, especially as they also have other continents such as Europe as a market.
US Might Be Pushed Aside?
There might well be a general trend away from the US as an active trading partner. After all, there is little point in trying to sell goods to a 'have-not' country such as the future US will be if present policies are continued.
Bush Doesn't 'Get It'!
President Bush tends not to 'get it', as he just announced some encouragement to drill in previously unacceptable places in the US in order to get oil amounts that will be insufficient to sustain even a moped driving economy.
Fix The CONSUMPTION, not the PRODUCTION of Oil.
What Bush needs to do, but might be too close to the problem to understand it, or maybe is being badly advised, is to decrease the consumption. The current system is unsustainable over the long term.
Drilling more holes will no longer fix the problem.
Slowing down the world will help.
Decreasing essential distances will help. Investing the still-cheap energy we have right now into producing such things as windmills will help. The American Dream is over, George! Get with the program!
