Today some statistics were issued showing a slowdown in th Canadian economy. Jobs have been lost, new full-time jobs have failed to be created. Some part time jobs have been created, a sign that costs are being reduced by companies.
Being a close neighbour of the failing US, it is no surprise that this is occurring. The economies tend to be linked, with many US corporations having Canadian divisions operating in Canada.
So, as the US fails, no doubt the consumption by US corporations of Canadian resource materials will slow down, making the situation even more critical.
In the meantime, the Euro remains strong.
My own thinking is that the US is not set up to deal with this failure, and this fact will increase the impact of the situation.
The US habit of fixing problems by throwing money at them can no longer work once there is no money to throw.
