More On Immigration - delays in processing.

As well as generally using a points system that is designed to eliminate most applicants, western countries tend to make the actual day-today process difficult as well, as if to make it so that only those who have extremes of patience in the face of stupidity will carry on the process without dropping out.

I suspect that one of the problems that adds to this difficulty is the large numbers of local residents who are employed at the various embassies, and either are told to obstruct the process, or just by nature take delight in doing so anyway, although a third option is that they are just unaware of what they are supposed to be doing - certainly from my own experience there seems to be a vast output of letters that make no sense, and seemingly little reading and understanding of letters sent in order to give valuable information that is required to facilitate the process.

A classic example of this is when repeated requests are made for the applicant to send documents to the embassy, when continual replies are given that the embassy already has such documents, and can they please check the file before sending letters requesting such documents.

This whole bizarre behaviour normally comes to an end when they finally send a letter saying that if a response is not received containing the requested documents within a specified time, then it will be assumed that the applicant is no longer interested in immigrating.

If a response to this is sent using poster sized fonts, and in upper case lettering, preferably in red ink, then you might at that point get a letter saying something like: 'We have now received the documents as requested, and will be processing the application within due course.'
